2014 Annual Harley Raffle

The 2014 UMV Haley Raffle was held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the VFW in Hyde Park, VT. It was a great time for all.

The bike was a 2013 FXDC Harley Super Glide Custom. Purchased from Green Mountain Harley Davidson in Essex, VT. Only 175 tickets were sold for $100. Each ticket entitled the holder and a guest to attend the raffle, dinner and dance on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the VFW in Hyde Park, VT.

The doors opened at 4:00, there were people there before that, and dinner was served around 5:00. The dinner this year was catered by Texas Roadhouse from Williston. They served pulled pork, spiced rice, salad and their incredible homemade rolls and cinnamon butter.

The price for just the dinner and dance was $25 per head or $10 for just the band / dance. White wrist bands were given to all original ticket holders and read bands were supplied by the VFW to identify people over 21. While everyone was welcome to the dinner and drawing, after 8L00 when the band started it was over 21 only.

The band was Nomad. It was their first time, and they were awesome. Usually local bands do a few songs well, a few more so-so and then murder some more. Nomad nailed every song. If you closed your eyes you would have thought Tom Petty was up there playing. Their covers of classic rock songs by AC-DC, Beastie Boys, all the popular bands from the 60s to today were fantastic. We sure hope to see them back for the 2015 raffle.

The weather was unseasonably warm and it was raining-hard at times. The day started with icy conditions all around the state and in NY.
