That all power being originally inherent in and consequently derived from the people, therefore, all officers of government, whether legislative or executive, are their trustees and servants; and at all times, in a legal way, accountable to them.
Vermont’s Mandatory Helmet Law
All motorcyclists in Vermont are required to wear a helmet. Currently only 20 states mandate that all motorcyclists wear helmets. In New England only Vermont and Massachusetts mandate universal helmet use.
There are three bills in the Vermont Legislature concerning motorcycles now, one in the house and one in the senate would allow riders over 21, who have taken an safety course and are financially responsible (job and insurance?) to decide for themselves when and wear to use a helmet.
Remember nothing will change, nothing will happen unless you make it happen. Contact your representatives now and tell them to respect our Freedom of Choice and change the existing law. Find your representative now, go ahead click.
Here’s what I wrote: “As an avid motorcyclist and one of your constituents I ask that you support S-172 / H-721 to change Vermont’s universally mandated law requiring all motorcyclists wear helmets.
Please give us the freedom to choose for ourselves.

Be sure to be polite, let them know your name and where you live. If your reps are a member of the transportation committee, be sure to do this.
