November 2012 Meeting Minutes

THE NEXT MEETING IS DECEMBER 5, 2012 AT V.F.W. HYDE PARK
HOPE TO SEE A FEW NEW FACES THERE

November meeting was held at the Orleans Legion, with 12 members present. The meeting began at 7:15 there were 8 reg, and 4 board members, no guests.

Pledge was recited, and secretary and treasury reports were read and accepted.

OLD BUSINESS: We own our bike! We paid off Green Mtn.H-D and picked it up, its at Donnys house.

Springfield Shiners’ trip was great fun, and very informative too. It is incredible what they can do there. The staff was very accommodating, and we were treated very nice by everybody there, they really could use cash donations in lieu of toys. We all felt it was worth our time to make this trip and we have a better understanding of what these places can do for the kids.

Phil White joined our meeting tonight with info on Kingdom Thunder. We may have to move the event to a new location, as Annie may not be there next year. Phil will talk with Steve Wright and Rob Hodgkins about seeing if Jay Peak would be interested in hosting us. We need to start pushing K/T for 2013 now, and contact some of the area H-D dealers to get more interest up. We also have to push our web site better and keep it updated as to what’s going on. Jason will check with RCT to see if they would be able to transport people if we need to use IROC’s grounds for it.

TOY RUN: GMHD wants to be the starting point for us this next year, takes over the Spanked Puppy group. They will do a pancake breakfast for the early riders and get the run going! We approve of this switch, nice to have a dealer get involved with us! We have E-mailed info to schools on the t-shirt design contest and the $100.00 prize for the best design.

TURKEY DONATIONS: We donated 10 turkeys to WLVB’s turkey drive. They said we were welcome to come on air and discuss our Harley Raffle, and anything else we have planned, Donny and Holly will go and discuss raffle and scholarship with Roland Lajoy.

HARLEY RAFFLE: The food is being ordered and taken care of, we will order 20 dozen biscuits from Cinta, plus we are doing potatoes, chicken, cranberry sauce and coleslaw, plus desert. Jason Heath has our deposit so the band is assured!

Anyone that doesn’t have a ticket, but wants to come, the prices for the night will be as such: $10.00 per person, Dance only, $25.00 per person meal and dance.

SCHOLARSHIPS: We will give out 6 scholarships at $500.00 each again this year. Jason made the motion; Mike seconded it, the vote passed.

We received a thank you from Bobby Starr for our donation to his campaign, With Bobby winning, and John Rogers with both being pro choice supporters of helmet choice, this brings us to 3 with Joe from Caledonia County that we can count on. It’s not a lot but it’s a start.

We need to set a date to visit the legislature in January to share with them all we do for the area, not just push the helmet choice thing that will come later. If you are willing to speak to your legislator about helmet choice, please contact us, we will be putting together a date to go to Montpelier and meet with our Senators. Please get involved! More numbers carry more weight!

Also we will do our annual Storm the State House in May. Adjourned at 8:47 pm
