United Motorcyclists of Vermont's Annual Scholarship

Each year United Motorcyclists awards two scholarships of $500 each to students in Vermont. We raise the money for these scholarships at our yearly Poker Run in June. The number of scholarships awarded and the amount may vary from year to year - the better we do, the more we give.

Applications and informational packets are sent to high school guidance counselors in the spring.

The United Motorcyclists of Vermont Shcolarship is based on specific criteria and is scored b the scholarship committee. The criteria are financial need, community service, application effort member recommendations, school involvement and other considerations. A short essay about why the applicant wants to further their education and should include school activities, leadership positions, activities and work experience.

In 2005 the recipients were Andrew Newsome and Shawntyl Young.
